Welcome to InVOLve.
This edition features an important announcement on the future of Volunteering Australia. There will be considerable changes to the way VA does business. This will include relocating the office to Canberra. Full details are included in this edition.
National Volunteer Week (NVW) is only a few weeks away. It isn’t too late to engage with your local media to help promote volunteering or to recruit more volunteers to your organisation. NVW is Australia’s largest celebration of volunteering and many local media organisations are looking for stories. Follow our quick guide and make sure your volunteers are recognised for their contribution. You might be surprised how much support you get just by asking. Act now as it isn’t too late to engage with your local media.
The State of Volunteering Report will be launched as part of VA’s National Volunteer Week celebrations. The report reviews what volunteering looks like in Australia in 2011, what progress has been made against each of the objectives set in the National Agenda on Volunteering in 2001, an outcome from the original International Year of Volunteers, and what needs to be achieved and suggested actions to focus our energies as we move forward.
This edition also includes VA’s latest Policy Update for April and much more.
