The National Volunteer Skills Centre project

The National Volunteer Skills Centre (NVSC) is a project funded by the Commonwealth Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs and managed by Volunteering Australia.
There are three key goals of the NVSC project:
-
to support volunteers and organisations to build their skills and knowledge;
-
to strengthen networks and encourage collaboration and the sharing of information;
-
to reduce the duplication of resources and the costs associated with skills development and training.
To achieve these goals, Volunteering Australia has developed a number of resources and provides a range of services, including:
-
Nationally recognised qualifications for volunteers;
-
Dozens of free training resources and materials for volunteers, trainers and managers of volunteers;
-
Best practice tips and advice for not for profit organisations and volunteers;
-
A free "Find a Trainer" database, to help managers and not for profit organisations quickly and easily find a trainer in the local area;
-
Access to AVALON, the Australian Volunteering Library Network, with over 6000 resources in the on-line catalogue;
-
Three types of E-forums: open discussion forums; focused discussion topics centred around contemporary volunteering issues; and scheduled opportunities to talk to experts on aspects of volunteering;
-
A training calendar to find workshops, seminars and conferences.
All these resources and services can be found under the Skills and Training section of our website:
