The Australian Journal of Volunteering Student Prize 2007

The Centre of Philanthropic and Nonprofit Studies (CPNS) Alumni, Queensland University of Technology, together the Volunteering Australia are very pleased to announce the third annual prize for the best paper on volunteering written by a university student.

The prize is $500 generously donated by CPNS Alumni, and publication in the Australian Journal on Volunteering.

Congratulations to this year's winner -  Andrea Petriwskyj for her paper 'Citizen participation as volunteering? Opportunities and challenges for an inclusive definition'. If you are not a current subscriber of the Journal - order your copy now.

The calibre of entries this year was extremely high and we congratulate the students who took part.

A sample of topics written about by other entrants included the difficulties of attracting and retaining volunteers in school canteens, volunteer roles in the implementation and delivery of aid post-disaster; the key technical and social factors of open source software in relation to volunteering; and the various areas that affect volunteer motivations.

Over the past three years the range of entries has been very broad and we hope this prize has played a role in encouraging emerging scholars to further investigate volunteering.
