How your organisation can celebrate NVW
1. Spread the word! • Include the NVW logo on your website, e-bulletins, email signatures, NVW event brochures and newsletters. • Tell your members and your networks about NVW and invite them to show support for the volunteer movement. • Display NVW posters at your work place and ask local businesses to show support by displaying a poster in their windows. • Wear your pin all year round.
2. Free stuff • Make sure you check out the Free Downloads on this website including the NVW logo, posters and certificate of appreciation.
2. Contact the media • Read our top 10 tips on how to attract the media and make sure you get information about your organisation in your local media. • Check out what to include in your media release.
3. Ways to recognise your volunteers • Hold a thank you morning tea, an awards night or even an information session to tell people about your organisation and the great work done by your volunteers. Tip: Involve your local community businesses in your National Volunteer Week event. Many local businesses will be happy to donate prizes, food or even a venue - especially if you offer them some promotion at your event. • Invite a speaker to talk about how they have been impacted by your volunteers. • Create a "thank-you" slide show featuring photos from the past year of your volunteers in action. • Organise a thank-you card signed by the head of the organisation or by the entire staff. • Personalise a Certificate of Appreciation for all your volunteers. • Take a group photo of all current volunteers and hang it in a prominent spot in your organisation.
If you are planning an event, let us know what you are doing so we can list your event in our NVW Event Calendar. We get over 95,000 visits per month to the Volunteering Australia website, so spread the word about your celebration.
Do you have a great recognition idea that you’d like to share? Email us so we can add it to the list.
