2008 Comic Relief Grants Winners Announced
All applications for Comic Relief Australia Grants have now been assessed and the successful applicants announced.
Volunteering Australia CEO, Cary Pedicini, said there were more than 130 applications received. “There was an amazing amount of interest in the grants and the assessment process was very demanding. We were very impressed with the quality of applications representing a broad range of not-for-profit organisations around Australia.”
Comic Relief Australia CEO, Rob Weisz, has announced more than $380,000 in domestic grants to 14 organisations. “Comic Relief is very pleased to announce the successful domestic grant applicants and we wish them every success. Thanks to donations from thousands of Australians, Comic Relief has provided a record $700,000 to vital Australian and overseas projects. Our ‘Golden Dollar Promise’ ensures that every cent of every dollar donated by the public is directed towards the relief of poverty, and social or economic injustice.”
Grants have been awarded to: • Mildura Toy Library - VIC • Centacare Catholic Family Services - VIC • Burns Survivors Network - VIC • New School of Arts Neighbourhood House Inc - NSW • Chinese Parents Association - Children with Disabilities Inc - NSW • The Shepherd Centre - NSW • Mercy Refugee Service - NSW • Betty's Place Women's Refuge - NSW • Family and Kids-Care Foundation - QLD • Disability Enhancement Fund - QLD • United Way South Australia Inc - QLD • Melaleuca Refugee Centre, Torture & Trauma Survivors Service of the NT Inc - NT • CASE for Refugees - WA • Bridgewater Police & Citizens Youth Club - TAS
