Volunteering Australia launches National Surveys on the value of Volunteering Support Services
Volunteering Australia have launched three Surveys to capture the value that Volunteering Support Services make to the Australian community. The 2017 Surveys on the Value of Volunteering Support Services follows the success of the Tower of Strength campaign, that reinstated designated funding for volunteer management, after proposed cuts in the 2017/18 Budget.
Volunteering Support Services are place-based organisations who provide the critical infrastructure required for safe, effective and sustainable volunteering. They are responsible for the promotion, resourcing and support of volunteering in local communities, by empowering people to volunteer and ensuring that their experience is positive and safe. Volunteering Support Services assist thousands of organisations in the community sector to recruit, retain and manage their volunteers.
The Surveys are:
- A census to be completed by Volunteering Support Services; 2017 Census of Volunteering Support Services: Volunteering Support Services will need to complete the Census, and promote the 2017 Survey of Volunteering Support Services Volunteers and the 2017 Survey of Volunteer Involving Organisations to their relevant stakeholders.
- A survey to be completed by Volunteer Involving Organisations that are partnered with a Volunteering Support Service; 2017 Survey of Volunteer Involving Organisations.
- A survey to be completed by volunteers that have utilised a Volunteering Support Service; 2017 Survey of Volunteering Support Services Volunteers.
Please note: you are only required to complete the survey that applies to you or your organisation. The Surveys only takes a few minutes to complete, with all feedback treated as confidential.
The value of the data lies in a high response rate. Volunteering Australia is urging all Volunteering Support Services, Volunteer Involving Organisations, and Volunteering Support Services (VSS) Volunteers to make a response and distribute to your networks, as your responses will help improve practice, and inform the work and interests of the sector.
Volunteering Australia will also be releasing a comprehensive report of the Survey’s that will quantify the critical social and economic contributions that Volunteering Support Services make to society, provide an evidence-base for future resource allocation, and deliver a benchmark to measure future performance.
Conducted by the Institute of Project Management on behalf of Volunteering Australia, and made possible by key Volunteering Support Services Stakeholders, the Surveys close Friday 11 August 2017.
