Volunteering Australia is seeking Expressions of Interest to join Volunteering Australia’s Board Committees with three opportunities currently available.

Co-opted Member of the People and Nominations Committee, Board Committee Volunteering Australia x 2
Area of Expertise: Human Resources, Change Management, Ethics, Impact Evaluation, Program & Project Management, Strategy (Strategic / Succession Planning)

- a brief cover letter addressing the area of expertise;
- a copy of your resume; and
- the names and contact details of two related referees.

- Payment: Nil – honorary role
- Expectations: Committee members are expected to attend quarterly meetings, actively participate in discussions, and contribute their relevant expertise.
- Length of Term: Committee members will serve a minimum term of one year and may extend their commitment up to five years.

The Board of Directors will oversee and represent the interests of Volunteering Australia stakeholders, ensuring prudent financial management and adherence to ethical standards. As their representatives, committee members have the responsibility of establishing, guiding, and assessing the overall financial direction of Volunteering Australia.
Financial Oversight: Committee members will provide oversight of Volunteering Australia’s financial activities, including budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls. At least one member of the committee will possess relevant qualifications and experience in accounting, finance, or investment, ensuring the committee’s financial literacy.
Audit Compliance: The committee will oversee the audit process, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and ethical standards. Members will work closely with external auditors to review financial statements and internal controls.
Risk Management: Committee members will assess and manage financial risks faced by Volunteering Australia, ensuring the organisation’s long-term financial sustainability.
Transparency and Accountability: The committee will promote transparency and accountability in financial matters, ensuring that stakeholders receive accurate and timely information about Volunteering Australia’s financial performance.
Expectations: Committee members are expected to attend quarterly meetings, actively participate in discussions, and contribute their expertise to financial decision-making processes. Additionally, members should adhere to the organisation’s ethical guidelines.

The overall objective of the People and Nominations Committee (Committee) is to assist the Board of Volunteering Australia in fulfilling its responsibilities in relation to people management (people within Volunteering Australia) and remuneration policies for Volunteering Australia and its nomination responsibilities for the Board.
The People and Nominations Committee is responsible for overseeing human resources, workforce diversity, inclusion, and director recruitment at Volunteering Australia. Committee members will play a crucial role in shaping the organisation’s culture, ensuring diversity and inclusion, and recruiting qualified individuals to serve on the board and in leadership positions.
Human Resources Oversight: Committee members will provide oversight of Volunteering Australia’s human resources policies and practices, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. They will work closely with management to address any HR-related issues and promote a positive work environment.
Workforce Diversity and Inclusion: The committee will promote workforce diversity and inclusion initiatives, ensuring that Volunteering Australia reflects the communities it serves. Members will develop strategies to attract, retain, and develop a diverse workforce.
Director Recruitment: Committee members will oversee the recruitment and selection process for new board members, ensuring that candidates possess the skills, experience, and diversity needed to effectively govern Volunteering Australia. They will work closely with the board chair and governance committee to identify potential candidates and conduct thorough evaluations.
Ethical Leadership: Committee members will uphold ethical leadership standards, fostering a culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability throughout Volunteering Australia.
Expectations: Committee members are expected to attend quarterly meetings, actively participate in discussions, and contribute their expertise to HR and governance processes. They should also support Volunteering Australia’s efforts to promote diversity and inclusion in its workforce and governance structure.
