Meet Nicole, a dedicated volunteer with Ambulance Wish Queensland, sharing their inspiring story as part of our ‘Share Your Story’ series.
Granting Final Wishes with Compassion
Volunteering with Ambulance Wish Queensland inspires me because I am passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of people facing challenging circumstances. At Ambulance Wish QLD, I see firsthand how granting a final wish—whether it’s reuniting someone with loved ones or taking them to a meaningful place—brings comfort, dignity, and joy during a difficult time.
The compassion, teamwork, and community spirit that define this organisation motivate me to give my time and skills, knowing that even small acts of kindness can have a profound impact on individuals and families.
Being part of Ambulance Wish QLD continually reminds me of the importance of empathy and the power we have to create special moments for others.
A Wish to Remember
One recent wish involved taking a recipient home to spend time with her sons, check on her beloved gardens—especially her orchids—and look through family photo albums. We also made a stop at a beautiful lookout over Caloundra’s beaches, a place close to her heart.
It’s experiences like these that highlight just how powerful and personal each wish can be.

No matter how much time you can give, your efforts matter and can create a real impact. Stepping into a volunteer role can open your eyes to new perspectives and bring unexpected joy—both to those you help and to yourself.
