The theme for International Volunteer Day 2025 has been announced as “Every Contribution Matters”, a global reminder that every act of volunteering, no matter the size, strengthens communities and helps create meaningful change.
This year, 5 December marks an important moment. It is the official launch of International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development (IVY2026), a global initiative that highlights the crucial role of volunteering in achieving sustainable development.
UN Volunteers coordinates International Volunteer Day to recognise and celebrate volunteers around the world. Every day, volunteers share their time, skills and heart to support inclusion, advance climate action and progress the Sustainable Development Goals.
