Meet Ganika, a dedicated volunteer sharing their journey as part of our ‘Share Your Story’ series.
Ganika volunteers for organisations including Health in Focus, Equal Ed, Mary’s Meals, 300 Blankets, and environmental initiatives like Beach Patrol 3030. As a Youth Ambassador, they also champion causes such as education, climate action, and public health.
“I am inspired by the belief that small actions can create meaningful change. Volunteering has allowed me to connect with diverse communities, learn from their stories, and contribute to causes close to my heart. Knowing that my efforts, whether tutoring a refugee child, planting trees, or supporting health campaigns, can make someone’s life a little brighter motivates me to keep giving back.”
When asked what they’d say to someone considering volunteering, they shared:
“Go for it! Volunteering is not just about giving your time, it’s about gaining experiences, friendships, and a sense of purpose. You’ll discover new perspectives, develop skills, and be part of something bigger than yourself. Every contribution, no matter how small, counts.”
This photo was taken during a Teddy Bear Hospital school visit, where they volunteered to help children learn about health in a fun and engaging way. Wearing a lab coat, they guided students through interactive activities that built their confidence around healthcare.
