About Christine Chilcott

Christine Chilcott OAM is a highly respected and deeply committed volunteer whose lifetime of service has shaped community life across Northern Tasmania. For more than three decades, Christine has contributed her time, leadership and energy to an extraordinary range of organisations spanning sport, aged care, education, community events, facilities management, churches and local governance.

She has held numerous executive roles including President, Secretary and Treasurer, alongside hands-on operational roles that help keep organisations running day to day.

Christine is a Life Member of several organisations and served the Meander Hall Committee for more than 30 years as Secretary/Treasurer, continuing today as caretaker. In aged care, she volunteered on boards and auxiliaries for decades and now provides weekly companionship through a mobile store that brings connection and joy to residents across two facilities.

Known for her humility, reliability and problem-solving ability, Christine is often the first person called when help is needed. Guided by her belief, “If not me, then who,” she continues to give selflessly, strengthening organisations, supporting individuals, and building a more connected and caring community.

Christine has been recognised as a State Volunteer of the Year recipient and is a finalist for the inaugural Australian Volunteer of the Year Award, presented during National Volunteer Week.
