World Youth Skills Day is a celebration of the importance of youth skills development and the key role young people play in building a more sustainable future.
Young people around the world are developing new skills by volunteering in their communities. Despite the challenges young people have faced over the past few years with lock downs and closures of schools due to the pandemic, their perseverance and dedication to gaining new skills continues.
According to Mission Australia’s 2021 Youth Survey, volunteering was the 4th most reported activity, with 41.1 per cent of young people involved.
Young people are indeed our leaders of the future. Investing in their skills, education and assisting them to discover volunteering opportunities will work towards addressing the issues that young people face today.
Gaining new skills through volunteering can lead to meaningful employment that will enhance their lives and build towards a more sustainable future for all.
By investing in our youth, we are Better Together.
